Farewell To January

Oh my goodness. I cannot believe January is almost over. What a crazy, exciting and stressful month it has been. I have many little bits I would like to share and considering my stress levels I'm just going to lump them all together.

The other day my friend Amber and I went to BFI Southbank to see the London themed SAF Shorts. They were all fantastic and very inspiring. I wish I could have all day to write and film but school.

Following the films we browsed the South Bank and had a lovely lunch, getting our table just in time to get out of the thunder storm.

Polo neck - Zang Toi
Skirt - American Apparel
Scarf - Ralph Lauren
Bag - market in Marrakech
Shoes - Adidas
Tights - M&S

Here's a video I made whilst wondering round the beautiful South Bank -

Following we lunch we walked over to Covent Garden for some more leisurely browsing. In Neil's Yard we came across Amber's heaven; a beautiful bead shop named Bead Aura.

I mentioned in a previous post that I would talk about the incredible place that is Mero Retro. So here we go. Mero Retro is a vintage shop my mother and I always pass when driving home from my grandma's but never went in. Before Christmas, with time on our hands, we decided to park and have a look; and I am so glad we did. The shop is amazing. It's filled with beautiful and unique pieces. Naturally I did end up making a few purchases. The shop is on Upper Clapton Road in Hackney (London) and if this sort of thing catches your eye I would highly recommend going and having a look. I will definitely be returning in the future.

Here is a comfy, cosy outfit photographed by my lovely friend Amelia from ages ago I never got round to posting, till now -

Jumper - Rokit
Coat - American Eagle
Jeans - Topshop (Jamie)
Boots - Dr Marten
Earrings - Urban Outfitters

And I had to include this picture of Amelia from our breakfast date in Le Pain Quotidien -

I also filmed this cute, little day with Amelia -

I've seen two films recently. One in the cinema and the other one on TV. In the cinema I saw American Hustle; and I hate to say it but I was disappointed. It was too long and I just didn't care for any of the characters. How on earth it won an award for best comedy I do not know. It is not a comedy! However, there were some good elements. I really did like Christian Bale and Jennifer Lawrence (though not together). And Bradley Cooper did have his moments. I loved the costumes, particular the intricate suits, though I thought occasionally Amy Adams could've worn a bra; and of course it was shot beautifully. Overall I did not hate it, and I found it very interesting to see. I would definitely watch it again in a couple of years to see if my perspective is the same, but I am definitely in no rush. Sorry.

The film I watched on TV was Ali. A film about Muhammed Ali with Will Smith played the title role. I really enjoyed the film. It was very insightful and I would definitely recommend it. The role of religion in peoples life is something very fascinating to me, so I found it extremely interesting in seeing how Islam contributed to his life in and out of his sport.

This month has been a pretty good start to 2014 and I am excited for the year ahead. However, if we could just skip to after exams I would definitely not complain.
