Update: Brick Lane gems, macaroons & recently viewed films

This weekend I had a lovely day in Brick Lane; wandering much further down than I usually go and finding some lovely little gems. The sun was shining and it really felt like spring had sprung.

Top - Beyond Retro
Dungarees - House of Hackney
Jacket - vintage Levi
Shoes - Adidas

We came across a wonderful chocolate shop in which everything looked absolutely beautiful. We did manage to resist, however, on weaker days I would have bought the lot.

We also came across a stunning little antique shop which sold literally anything and everything. The ground floor was completely filled with beautiful books and I will definitely be going back there in the future.

As the day progressed we felt we deserved a sit down and a cake. As soon as we decided this we came across the most perfect place.

I was extremely happy to see that my favourite album is the Rough Trade album of the month. It's the perfect album to get you in the mood for summer. 100% buy it if you haven't already!

Made a couple of lovely purchases in the lovely Beyond Retro. Both of my buys are extremely similar to various tops sold in American Apparel. However, they're vintage and cheaper; so well done me for spotting them. One of which I put straight on as I was not happy with the top I was wearing, hence the outfit photos above.

I love macaroons. Who doesn't love macaroons?! Recently I have craved macaroons more days than not, so naturally trips to LadurĂ©e have been frequent. The other day after going to the Isabella Blow exhibition my mother and I sat in the tea room upstairs. It was so lovely and I cannot wait to go again.

I really really enjoyed Don Jon. If you say you don't love Joseph Gordon-Levitt then you're a complete liar. His performance, writing and directing in this film was absolutely stunning and I cannot wait for more of his projects in the future. It was really interesting with a very important message about modern society and the problem the idealistic images we are faced with on a day to day basis are creating for us.

Wes Anderson's newest work of art. What can I say?! Beautiful cinematography, stunning characterisations, amazing story. Ralph Fiennes is an absolute doll and naturally I adored Tilda Swinton.

Her has a very interesting story about the modern life we live in and what could potentially happen to our forthcoming generations. Beautifully shot and I absolutely loved the use of colours in the surroundings as well the costumes. Also an incredible cast (I love Rooney Mara!)

I know I'm slightly late on the band wagon but Blue Jasmine is absolutely fab. I am so happy Cate Blanchett won the Oscar, it was most definitely deserved. I absolutely adore A Street Car Named Desire, and Woody Allen's adaptation of this story into Blue Jasmine was all I could have hoped for.

I would highly recommend all these films and interesting and entertaining pieces of cinema.

  1. If "This Shop Rocks" is the actual name of the store, than it does, indeed, rock. Cool pictures! Sometimes we all need to just go to a tea room and have fun.

  4. Mmm outfit is amazing! I'm so jealous you were able to see the Grand Budapest Hotel already! Where I love, it's only coming to the small theatre near my house in early april, so I have to wait until then, or Id have to go to the nearest big city and watch it there, which is an hour and a half drive, and with my crazy schedule, it's not an option. I'm such a die-hard wes anderson fan, so seeing all these posts of people reviewing and seeing the movie is making me so jealous but so excited too! I can't wait.

Also that antique store is so cool. I love it.
